Amazon Fire Stick Download Movies

Amazon Fire TV XBMC Kodi How to Get Free Movies and TV. I am always looking for the most value I can get, but to still have things work properly or it is not worth it. Lately I have been experimenting with the new suite of Amazon FireTV boxes. Morning I have just joined Amazon Prime and see I have an option to download films/ TV shows to the fire stick to watch offline.

Now playing:Watch this: Download Amazon Prime movies and TV

Streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and Netflix have long made it possible for you to watch movies and TV shows on the go -- provided your phone or tablet has a decent Internet connection. If you want to actually download something, as opposed to just stream it, you have to buy or rent it.

The exception: Owners of Amazon Fire tablets can download some Prime Video shows and movies for offline viewing. That's a great option if you're about to get on an airplane, or you're headed somewhere that doesn't have Wi-Fi.

As of today, however, owners of other devices can download Prime content as well. That's a pretty big deal, as it could save you some money. Here's how to take advantage of the feature, starting with iOS devices. (It probably goes without saying, but I'll say it just in case: To download Prime video, you must have a subscription to Amazon Prime.)

Download to iOS

Step 1: Install the Amazon Video app, run it, then sign into your Amazon account.

Step 2: Before you start downloading, you'll want to choose the default video-quality setting. So tap the Settings icon, then Download Quality. My advice: Choose Good or Better. Anything higher is overkill for a small screen, and will simply take longer to download and consume more storage.

Step 3: Search or browse to find a show or movie you want to download ('Deadwood,' anyone?), taking note that not everything in Amazon's Prime Video library supports the option. If you don't see a download button for a particular video (usually movies), that's why.

Step 4: If it's a movie, just tap the Download button to start. Note the Options button that appears; tap this if you want to pause or cancel the download as it's happening. If it's a TV show, first select the season you want, then tap the Download button next to the episode you want. (The button next to that, Play, is if you want to stream it instead.) You can queue up multiple episodes to download; you don't have to do one at a time.

Step 5: When the download is complete, tap Play.

If you tap the Library icon, it might not be immediately clear which videos you've actually downloaded and which are simply part of your library. And that's a hassle if you're looking to free up space by erasing stuff you've watched. Fortunately, all you have to do is tap Refine, then select On Device. Now you'll see only the local (i.e. downloaded) movies and shows.

Download to Android

Step 1: Install the Amazon Video app, run it, then sign into your Amazon account. However, don't look for it in the Google Play store; the app must be downloaded from Amazon's Appstore. Confused? Check out 'How to install Amazon Appstore on your Android device.'

Step 2: Before you start downloading, you'll want to choose the default video-quality setting. So tap the Menu icon, then Settings, then SD Download Quality. My advice: Choose Good or Better. Anything higher is overkill for a small screen, and will simply take longer to download and consume more storage. You also have the option of selecting Always Ask When Downloading, which is nice if you want different quality for different types of downloads.

Step 3: Search or browse to find a show or movie you want to download ('Orphan Black,' anyone?), taking note that not everything in Amazon's Prime Video library supports the option. If you don't see a download button for a particular video (usually movies), that's why.

Step 4: If it's a movie, just tap the Download button to start. If it's a TV show, first select the season you want, then tap the Download button next to the episode you want. (The button opposite that, Play, is if you want to stream it instead.) You can queue up multiple episodes to download; you don't have to do one at a time.

Step 5: When the download is complete, tap Play.

If you want to delete a download, just tap the trashcan icon. Alternately, you can venture into Menu and tap Your Downloads to see the movies and TV shows you've downloaded.

We live in a golden age of movies. Younger readers may find this hard to conceive of, but there was a time when to watch a movie meant going to a theater and seeing what was showing, and that was it. There were no movies at home; maybe someone had an 8mm projector and a couple of (boring) short films about bears or something, but Star Wars? You saw Star Wars when it was in the theater, or you didn’t see it at all. Times have changed.

Amazon fire stick download films

Today, we all have access to gigantic libraries of movies, both new releases and classics (and not-so-classics) of the past. Whether it’s your smartphone or your computer, you’re able to access enormous numbers of legitimate (and not so legitimate) copies of movies. Sites like Hulu and Netflix and Prime Video stream terabytes of video content on a constant basis. You can watch pretty much anything you want to watch.

One of the more common streaming solutions for consumers is the Amazon Fire TV Stick. This raises the question – can you download movies to your Fire TV Stick? Not directly. The Stick doesn’t have local storage in which to store any video; it has to stream things from another source. However, there are ways to download movies onto other devices for later consumption. In addition, your Fire TV Stick is able to access Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, or similar services, to get movies that way. In this article I’m going to show you several different options for getting movie content onto your Fire TV Stick.

The first and easiest way to download movies is to use Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, or another similar site. Just install the appropriate app – you will need a subscription for most such sites, although there are some good free alternatives – and surf the available libraries to your heart’s content. Note that not all movies you might want to watch are going to be available on any one service; sometimes you have to bounce around between several different sites to find what you’re looking for.

There are a number of good pay and free streaming services; here are some of the most popular ones.

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is a bundled service that’s included for free with a subscription to Amazon Prime, Amazon’s flagship quick-and-free-delivery option for its online retail business, which generally costs $119 per year or $12.99 per month. For most people, the Prime Video subscription is not the primary reason for getting Prime, but it is a really nice bonus with a lot of solid high-end movie and TV content.

Netflix

Netflix is one of the most popular streaming services around. With plans starting at $9/month, it’s an excellent choice for a main video streaming service. There are lots of movies and a ton of original content.

Hulu

Hulu is another major streaming site, with the very attractive benefit of offering upgrades to premium channel packages like HBO and Showtime. Starting as low as $5.99 a month, Hulu also offers some free content, usually older seasons of shows it has licenses for and older movies.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV has the advantage of being completely free to watch, and provides a really nice cable-TV-like array of channels that really feels like you have a (low-end) cable TV subscription. There aren’t a lot of premium movies or shows, but the price is right and the service is very reliable.

Classic Cinema Online

Classic Cinema Online is one of the all-time greats among free service providers. There are no new movies here, because CCO focuses purely on the old classic movies, and there are some truly amazing films (and a lot of B-movie filler) on the site. This is a must-have for fans of old Hollywood.

Popcornflix

Popcornflix is owned by Screen Media Ventures and has licenses to show more than 1,500 movies, streamed free. They have a good mix, with some films that nobody has ever heard of but quite a few classics and even some newer films.
